O'Hare terminals and airlines by terminal

O'Hare has four terminals: Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. There is no Terminal 4. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are the domestic terminals, and Terminal 5 is the international terminal. Each terminal has its own concourses. Here is where airlines are listed, according to O'Hare's airline map effective Nov. 15, 2025:

  • Terminal 1 (Concourses B and C): ANA and Lufthansa (departures only) and United (domestic, plus international departures).
  • Terminal 2 (Concourses E and F): Air Canada, Alaska, Denver Air/Key Lime, JetBlue, Southern Airways Express and Spirit.
  • Terminal 3 (Concourses G, H, K and L): Aer Lingus, American (domestic, plus international departures), British Airways (departures only), Contour, Iberia (departures only) and Japan Airlines (departures only).
  • Terminal 5 (Concourse M): AeroMexico, Air France, Air India, Air New Zealand, Air Serbia, American, ANA, Arajet, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, Connect Airlines, Copa Airlines, Delta, Emirates, Ethiopian, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Frontier, Iberia, Icelandair, ITA Airways, Japan Airlines (JAL), KLM Royal Dutch, Korean Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, SAS, Southwest, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines, United, VivaAerobus, Volaris and WestJet.

The map marks airlines that fly international routes out of Terminals 1, 2 and 3 but land at Terminal 5: American, ANA, British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Spirit and United. Airlines move, so check your terminal on your boarding pass or on flychicago.com before you leave.

Airline hubs: United and American

O'Hare is a hub for both United Airlines and American Airlines. United is based in Terminal 1 (Concourses B and C). American is based in Terminal 3 (Concourses G, H, K and L). That makes connections within one airline easy, but a transfer between United and American means a long walk or a ride on the Terminal Transfer Bus or ATS. International flights of both airlines land at Terminal 5. Delta, Southwest, Frontier and Sun Country appear at Terminal 5 on O'Hare's airline map.

What's changing at O'Hare right now

Check these before you fly:

  • Terminal 5 parking: construction is under way around the T5 garage and Lot D. O'Hare says to enter Terminal 5 by the bridge on the south side of the first level of the garage, next to the elevator lobby. If you park in Lot D, use the pedestrian entry on the north side of the garage first.
  • Terminal 3: a service animal relief area in the Main Hall is closed behind a construction wall. Other relief areas are open.
  • The Terminal Transfer Bus stop at Terminal 1 Gate B1 is temporarily closed. Use the Terminal 1 stop at Gate C18B.
  • Big picture: O'Hare is in a multi-year terminal rebuild (ORDNext, earlier called O'Hare 21). In August 2026 the City of Chicago announced it will break ground this year on the first phase of a new Concourse E, and the program also includes a new Global Terminal. Dates have moved several times, so confirm current plans at flychicago.com before you count on any new gate.

O'Hare gives no end dates for the three items above. See flychicago.com for updates.

Arrivals, departures and getting to the curb

For flight times and gate changes, check your airline or the flight status page on flychicago.com. We don't repost flight information here.

O'Hare's FAQ repeats the TSA advice to arrive 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. Each airline sets its own counter hours, so ask your airline.

How the curbs work:

  • Rideshare pickup for all terminals is on the Terminal 2 Upper Level curb. Black car pickups at Terminal 5 are on the Lower Level at 5B.
  • Taxi stands are on the lower level curb outside baggage claim at each terminal.
  • Hotel and off-airport parking shuttles pick up at the Terminal 2 arrivals curb. Some still stop at Terminal 5, so ask your shuttle company.
  • Waiting for someone? The cell phone lot is at 560 N. Bessie Coleman Dr.
  • Rental cars are at the Multi-Modal Facility, 10255 W. Zemke Blvd., reached by the free Airport Transit System.

Getting between terminals

Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected on the secure side, so you can follow the overhead signs between them without leaving security. Terminal 5 is not connected that way. To get between Terminal 5 and Terminals 1, 2 and 3, you have two choices:

  • Airport Transit System (ATS): a free, automated train that runs 24 hours a day, every 3 to 5 minutes at peak times. It serves Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 and the Multi-Modal Facility for rental cars, Economy Lot F, Kiss 'n' Fly, Pace buses and Metra. The ride from Terminal 1 to the Multi-Modal Facility takes about 10 minutes. You exit security at one end and go through it again at the other.
  • Terminal Transfer Bus: a secure airside bus for connecting passengers only. It runs every 15 minutes from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and you need a same-day flight from the terminal you are going to. Stops are at Terminal 1 Gate C18B, Terminal 3 Gates G17 and K20, and Terminal 5 Gate M13. Outside those hours, plan on leaving security and taking the ATS.

The CTA Blue Line to downtown Chicago is reached through the pedestrian tunnels from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. From Terminal 5, ride the ATS to Terminal 3 (or Terminal 2) first. O'Hare's Terminal 5 map says the trip to downtown takes about 45 minutes.

Because Terminal 5 holds customs, an international arrival connecting to a domestic flight has extra steps. Connecting passengers clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Terminal 5 first. If your bags are checked through to your final stop, drop them at the recheck counters just outside the customs area. Otherwise United and American passengers can recheck with an airline employee right after customs, and passengers on other airlines must take their bags out of Terminal 5 and recheck them. Then ride the free ATS to Terminal 1, 2 or 3 and go through TSA again. If you arrived from a preclearance airport, you can use the Terminal Transfer Bus (11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., boarding pass required) without leaving security.

Wi-Fi

O'Hare says Wi-Fi is free in most public areas, such as gate areas and food courts, both before and after security. O'Hare lists the network names as "Boingo Hotspot" and "_Free_ORD _Wi-Fi". O'Hare does not publish a session limit or a help phone number. If you can't connect, ask at an information desk.

There is no single lost and found desk. O'Hare says that if you don't know where you lost something, you may contact several or all of these separately:
