Recreational vehicles cannot park in any airport lot.
Shade Lot: covered parking
The Shade Lot has more than 400 covered spaces in a fenced and lighted area. To get there, enter Rick Piccolo Circle and turn right before you reach the terminal building.
Take a ticket when you enter. The exit is automated and takes credit cards only, with no staffed booth. An intercom is there for emergencies.
Parking shuttle and the walk to the terminal
A free parking shuttle runs between the Long Term Lot and the overflow lots once Long Term is full. Shuttle service to the front of the terminal runs from two hours before the first morning departure until after the last scheduled arrival, even if that flight is late. The airport does not publish how often the shuttle comes.
Heads up: construction has temporarily redirected the sidewalk between the terminal and the Shade and overflow lots. Expect about a 3-minute walk, or take the shuttle.
The airport says it does not run out of spaces, but lots do fill up, and overflow parking opens with shuttle service when needed. Plan extra time in busy periods.
How to pay
The lots accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. At the Parking Toll Plaza, four automated exit lanes marked credit card only let you pay without a cashier. The other lanes have cashiers.
To skip the line, scan the QR code on your parking ticket and pay on your phone. Then leave through the Credit Card Lane and insert the paid ticket. After you pay, you have 30 minutes to exit the Short Term Lot, 40 minutes for the Long Term Lot and 1 hour for the other lots.
Cell phone lot, pickup and drop-off
The curb in front of the terminal is for active loading and unloading only. Unattended vehicles are towed.
Waiting for a passenger? Use the Cell Phone Lot at 1180 Rental Car Road, Sarasota, a minute's drive from the terminal. You can reach it from Old Bradenton Road or from the main airport entrance off University Parkway. It has 124 paved spaces, 5 of them accessible, plus restrooms and vending machines, and it is lit and fenced. The airport suggests the airport website or the AeroCloud app for arrival times. You can also wait in the Short Term Lot.
EV charging
SRQ has eight Level 2 charging stations in row A8 of the Short Term Lot. Charging is free for customers who park an electric vehicle in that lot.
Accessible parking
Accessible spaces, including van-accessible spaces, are in every lot, in the rows closest to ticketing and baggage claim. A van with a wheelchair lift can take you from the Long Term Lot to the terminal. If you need extra time at the curb to load or unload, airport staff can help.
Planned parking garage
A Draft Environmental Assessment published in September 2026 proposes a four-level garage south of the terminal, across from the curb, with about 3,700 spaces. Rental car counters would move into it. Public comments are open until November 4, 2026. The airport has not published construction dates, so today's lots are unchanged for now.
