SRQ Car Rental: 10 Companies in Baggage Claim, Pickup and Return

SRQ's rental companies are on site. Their counters are in the baggage claim area on Level 1, and the cars are parked in a covered rental car lot within walking distance of the terminal. You return the car to the same lot.

The airport's terminal map says that from an arrival gate, the walk to baggage claim takes only a few minutes, and the rental counters are right there. Enterprise, Alamo and National describe their counters as being across from baggage claim number one.

The airport does not publish counter hours. The companies' own SRQ location pages list:

• Avis: 7:00 a.m. to midnight, every day.
• Budget: 7:00 a.m. to midnight, every day.
• Enterprise: 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., every day.
• Payless: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., every day.

Alamo and National list no hours on their location pages. For Dollar, Hertz, Sixt and Thrifty, check your reservation or call the company. Hours change, so confirm before a late arrival.

Go to your company's counter in baggage claim, then walk out to the rental car lot. Avis says its Preferred members show a driver's license at the counter to get a preprinted rental document and keys, with cars parked outside the baggage claim area. Budget says its cars wait in front of baggage claim in the Rental Car Ready line.

Drive back toward the terminal and follow the rental car return signs to the lot across from the terminal on Airport Circle. Avis gives its return address as 6018 Airport Circle, Sarasota, FL 34243. Budget tells you to follow the signs for Rental Car parking and look for the Budget lanes. Enterprise and National ask you to use their return lanes by following the wayfinding signs.

After hours:

• Avis and Budget: park and lock the car, then put the contract and keys in the drop box at the counter inside the terminal. Budget notes the terminal is open 24 hours.
• Enterprise and National: put the keys in the drop box near the customer service booth in the parking lot.
• Alamo: park where the signs tell you and drop the keys in the drop box.

The lot is within walking distance of the terminal, so you walk to check-in.

The airport does not publish rental fees or taxes. Check the total on your reservation before you confirm.

SRQ's pages do not mention Turo or other peer-to-peer car sharing. If you book one, ask your host where the handover takes place.

A Draft Environmental Assessment published in September 2026 proposes a four-level parking garage south of the terminal, across from the curb. It would let the rental car customer facilities move out of the baggage claim hall and into the garage. Public comments are open until November 4, 2026. No construction dates are published, so the counters stay in baggage claim for now.
