Your options at a glance

Where the Rental Car Center is

The Rental Car Center is at 17330 Palmetto Pines, Houston, TX 77032. Put that address in your map app if you are driving there.

Houston Airports says it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that all the rental companies serving the airport operate from this one facility. Individual counters can keep their own hours. Houston Airports does not publish counter hours for IAH, so call your company before a very late or very early pickup.

Shuttle from the terminals

The ride takes about five minutes. Shuttles leave every five minutes from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm and every ten minutes from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Enterprise's IAH location page says its shuttles run about every five minutes, 24/7.

Pick up at the curb outside Baggage Claim/Arrivals:

  • Terminal A: south side, Door A-115
  • Terminal C: south side, Door C-105 or C-106
  • Terminal E: see the Terminal D and E section below

Follow the signs to Ground Transportation, then the exits marked Rental Car. Look for blue and white buses marked Rental Car Shuttle.

Terminal D, Terminal E and Terminal B

If you land at Terminal D on an international flight, you clear Customs and Immigration in the Terminal E international arrivals hall, then catch the shuttle at Terminal E. The shuttle page also lists Door D-102 at Terminal D, but only for Foreign Flag Airlines drop-off, so do not count on it as a general pickup point.

For the Terminal E stop, Houston Airports gives two different doors. One page says the west side, Door E-101. Another says Level 2 Departures, Door E-203. The two airport pages disagree, so follow the Rental Car signs and ask an airport staff member before you walk far.

The airport's rental pages list stops for Terminals A, C, D and E only, with no Terminal B stop. Terminal B is being rebuilt, and its passengers check in at Terminal C. If you land at Terminal B, ask airport staff or your rental company where to board, or check fly2houston.com.

Off-airport companies and Turo

Houston Airports says all rental companies serving the airport use the Rental Car Center, and it lists no off-airport rental companies.

Turo is a peer-to-peer service, not an airport-listed company. Turo's own IAH guide says deliveries happen in the garages at Terminals A, B, C, D and E, or at the ecopark and ecopark2 lots, and never at the curb anywhere on airport property. Guests must use the ecopark shuttle to enter those lots. Turo says IAH requires it to remit a fee to the airport that lets hosts deliver there, and that you may be responsible for parking costs. Follow your host's directions and confirm where to meet before you land.

Fees and taxes

Houston Airports publishes no rental fee schedule, such as airport concession fees or facility charges. Those fees show up on your quote, so read the itemized total before you book. Your rental company can explain each line.

Returning your car

Follow the signs for the Rental Car Center on John F. Kennedy Boulevard and on Will Clayton Parkway. Enterprise tells customers to follow the road signs for Rental Car Return. The address is 17330 Palmetto Pines, Houston, TX 77032.

Shuttles take you back to the terminals about every five minutes. Separate buses serve Terminals A, C, D and E, and a sign on the front of each bus shows its terminal. Houston Airports does not publish a recommended return time, so leave extra time for the shuttle and security before your flight.
