IAH Gate Map: Terminals A to E and the Skyway

IAH has five terminals, A to E, and the letter of your gate is its terminal. The free Skyway links them inside security, and the free Subway links them before security. Terminal B gates now run from B40 to B68, and international flights arrive at Terminals D and E.

How to get to your gate at IAH

Check in at the right terminal first. Terminal B has no check-in lobby during its rebuild: Terminal B passengers check in, drop bags and clear TSA at Terminal C, then take the Skyway to Terminal B. Air France and KLM now check in at Terminal E, and the airport map also places Lufthansa there.

Past security, ride the Skyway. It is free, runs every day, leaves every 2 minutes and takes 4 minutes 15 seconds from Terminal A to Terminal D/E. Follow the signs marked Skyway.

Before security, the free Subway links the terminals and the Airport Marriott. It leaves every 3 minutes and runs from 3:15 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.

The airport's Terminal B alert advises allowing at least 20 minutes for inter-terminal transit. It doesn't publish walking times to each gate, so leave extra time.

New gate numbers in Terminal B

The airport's interactive map and its live departures board now number the Terminal B gates B40 to B68. Some older airport pages, including the Terminal B alert, still mention Gates B3 to B31.

Go by the gate on your boarding pass and on the airport screens. Gates can change, so check again when you get to the terminal.

Domestic and international terminals

International flights arrive at gates in Terminal D or Terminal E. Passengers walk through secure corridors and sky bridges to the inspection area, clear Immigration and Customs, and exit into the Terminal E International Arrivals Hall.

Terminal D now has only two airlines (VivaAerobus and Volaris on the airport map) and a TSA checkpoint with limited hours. If you go to Terminal D by mistake for an Air France or KLM flight, airport staff direct you to Terminal E, about a 10-minute walk.

United passengers arriving at Terminals A, D and E on domestic flights collect their bags at Terminal C.

Reading the gate numbers

Each terminal shows its first and last gate, for example A1 to A30. Not every number in between is used: there is no A13 or E13, and Terminal C jumps from C15 to C29. Some Terminal D gates carry a letter, such as D1A and D1B, or D18A and D18B.

Questions travelers ask

How many gates does IAH have?

The gate directory of IAH's official interactive map lists 122 gates across five terminals (checked October 10, 2026): 21 in A, 26 in B, 30 in C, 22 in D and 23 in E. Terminal B is being rebuilt, so this count can change.

Which terminal is my gate in at IAH?

The letter of your gate is the terminal: gate B45 is in Terminal B, gate E12 in Terminal E. Check your boarding pass and the airport screens, because gates can change.

Are the Terminal B gates numbered B3 to B31 or B40 to B68?

The airport's interactive map and its departures board use B40 to B68 (checked October 10, 2026). Some older airport pages still show B3 to B31. Follow the gate on your boarding pass.
