FLL Security: Checkpoints, CLEAR Lanes and When to Arrive
FLL does not publish live security wait times. Its home page has a TSA Times button, but it opens TSA's PreCheck lane schedule, not a wait count. CLEAR does publish lane hours for all four terminals (opening at 4:30 a.m. and closing between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.). Plan around your airline's bag check cutoff, and on cruise days arrive earlier.

Where to check FLL security wait times
FLL's home page has a button labeled TSA Times. It links to the TSA PreCheck Checkpoint Schedule at tsa.gov/precheck/schedule, where you enter an airport, day and time to see if PreCheck lanes are open. The tool returned no results for FLL on 2026-10-09. FLL shows no live wait counts on its other pages.
We do not print wait times here on purpose, because they change all day. Before you leave, try the TSA Times button or the MyTSA app, and ask your airline how early it wants you at the counter.
Known checkpoints
FLL's pages name only two checkpoints:
- Terminal 1: the Concourse B security checkpoint, near the level 2 pedestrian bridge to the Rental Car Center.
- Terminals 3 and 4 connector: the Concourse F Security Checkpoint, next to the entrance of the post-security connector between the two terminals.
FLL names no checkpoint for Terminal 2 or for Concourse E (Terminal 3), and publishes no opening hours for any checkpoint. FLL's Where Is My Airline page links to the same TSA schedule tool, so confirm hours in the MyTSA app or with your airline before you travel.
TSA PreCheck and CLEAR at FLL
CLEAR+: CLEAR lists lanes in all four terminals (checked 2026-10-09). Terminal 1: Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Terminal 2 has the same hours, with a standard lane and a TSA PreCheck lane. Terminal 3 has a lane at Gate E (4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and one at Gate F (4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.). Terminal 4 has the same hours as Terminal 1. CLEAR's page lists these lanes by terminal and gate, not by checkpoint name, and hours can change, so check the CLEAR app on the day you fly.
TSA PreCheck: FLL does not say which checkpoints have a PreCheck lane or give PreCheck hours. CLEAR's page shows a PreCheck lane at Terminal 2. Look at the signs when you reach the checkpoint, and check the MyTSA app for your terminal. Do not count on a specific lane until you see it.
How early to arrive
FLL itself gives no recommended arrival time. It says the earliest some airlines check bags is two to three hours before departure, and to contact your airline for exact check-in times.
You need a boarding pass and your bags checked before you can go through security, so the airline's cutoff comes first. For international flights, ask your airline for its earlier cutoff.
Cruise days and bag check
When several ships are in South Florida ports, FLL says airlines may only check your bags up to two hours before your flight. Cruise days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and many returning passengers reach FLL around 8:30 a.m., so morning counters and checkpoints get crowded.
If you fly out after a cruise, plan for a longer line at the airline counter than usual and check in online first if your airline allows it.
Help for travelers who need extra assistance
The TSA offers designated lanes for people who need special assistance at the checkpoint. If you have a disability or a medical condition, you can call the TSA Cares helpline at 1-855-787-2227 before your trip.
FLL also runs a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, started in December 2021, for travelers with hidden disabilities who want to show they may need more support or time. Wheelchair service is arranged through your airline, not the airport.
Guns and other items that stop your trip
FLL says TSA officers found 113 guns in carry-on bags at its checkpoints in 2024, down from 135 in 2023. A gun in your carry-on will interrupt your trip even if you have a concealed weapons permit.
FLL says TSA firearm penalties can top $10,000 and can include arrest. Check the TSA's own rules for everything else, since liquids and ID rules are covered in our general TSA guide.
Lost something at the checkpoint
Items left at a TSA checkpoint are normally handed to the FLL Lost and Found Office by TSA the next business day. An item left on a Friday would reach the office on Monday.
You can file a claim online through the lost claim form on FLL's Lost and Found page.
Questions travelers ask
How long are the security lines at FLL?
FLL does not publish live wait times. Its home page TSA Times button opens TSA's PreCheck lane schedule, not a wait count. Check the MyTSA app before you leave.
How early should I get to FLL for a domestic flight?
FLL gives no arrival time of its own. Some airlines start checking bags two to three hours before departure, and on cruise days they may stop at two hours, so check your airline's cutoff.
Does FLL have TSA PreCheck?
Yes, CLEAR's page shows a TSA PreCheck lane at Terminal 2, but FLL does not publish which checkpoints have PreCheck lanes or their hours. Look for the signs and check the MyTSA app.
Does FLL have CLEAR?
Yes. CLEAR+ lanes are in Terminals 1, 2, 3 (Gates E and F) and 4. Hours start at 4:30 a.m. and end between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., depending on the terminal and day.
What time do the FLL security checkpoints open?
FLL publishes no checkpoint hours. CLEAR lanes open at 4:30 a.m. Use the MyTSA app for PreCheck, or ask your airline the day you fly.
Can I reserve a security time slot at FLL?
FLL does not list a security reservation program. Skip the guesswork and use your airline's check-in cutoff and the TSA Times tool.
What if I fly out after a cruise?
On busy cruise days, FLL says airlines may only check bags up to two hours before departure. Arrive early for the airline counter, since you cannot clear security until your bags are checked.
Who do I call if I need help at security?
Call the TSA Cares helpline at 1-855-787-2227 before your trip. The TSA offers designated lanes for passengers needing special assistance.
Can my family walk me to the gate at FLL?
Only with a gate pass. Airlines issue them at their discretion to non-ticketed escorts of minors traveling alone or of passengers needing assistance, at the ticket counter on the day of travel, with a valid government photo ID.
