How to get to your gate at MCO
Start with your gate number, not only your terminal letter. MCO has three security checkpoints, named after the gates they serve: gates 1 to 59, gates 70 to 129 and gates C230 to C254. The airport posts live wait times for each one on flymco.com.
In Terminals A and B, go through the checkpoint for your gate range, then board the Gate Link tram to your airside. For gates 70 to 129, MCO gives a one-way trip of 1 minute 30 seconds, with a 40 second stop at each station. On MCO's map, the trams to Airsides 1 and 2 leave from the Terminal A side and the trams to Airsides 3 and 4 from the Terminal B side.
Terminal C gates sit behind their own checkpoint, in Terminal C. MCO asks you to reach security 2 hours before departure and doesn't publish walking times between gates, so leave extra time.
Getting to Terminal C
Terminal C is in the south part of the airport, next to the train station with Brightline service. From Terminals A and B, take the Terminal Link, an automated people mover, to the Train Station. MCO describes a 4 minute ride and says it runs 24 hours a day. From the Train Station, walk about 1,200 feet through Parking Garage C to Terminal C. In Terminals A and B its station is on Level 3, between the checkpoint for gates 70 to 129 and the Terminal B check-in desks.
Terminal C opened in 2022. A new wing with gates 250 to 254 has since been added.
Gate Link work at Airsides 2 and 4
MCO is replacing the Gate Link trams to gates 70 to 129 (Airsides 2 and 4) from December 2025 to fall 2027. Its schedule:
- Gates 100 to 129: one tram line from December 3, 2025 to July 2026, the other from July 2026 to December 2026.
- Gates 70 to 99: one line from December 2026 to June 2027, the other from June 2027 to October 2027.
MCO says most passengers will see only a few extra minutes. At times, staff guide you to a COBUS shuttle bus between gates 70 to 99 and gates 100 to 129. MCO says two buses run 24/7, the wait is 1 to 2 minutes if any, and the trip takes less than 5 minutes.
Walking between Terminals A and B and these gates is not allowed during normal operations. MCO sometimes opens the walkway when construction pauses: it is about 1,700 feet, or 5 to 7 minutes on foot.
Domestic and international gates
International flights arrive at Airside 4 (gates 70 to 99) or at Terminal C. Customs happens where your flight lands.
- Airside 4: clear U.S. Customs, then collect your bags at the international carousel. You can drop them on the transfer belt (or keep them) and take the Gate Link to Terminals A and B, where bag claim is on Level 2.
- Terminal C: it is a Bags First facility, so you collect your bags before you see a CBP officer.
Connecting to a domestic flight? Recheck your bags after Customs and go through TSA again. From Airside 4 to gates 100 to 129 during the Gate Link work, staff guide you to a COBUS shuttle after screening.
Reading the gate numbers
Gates in Airsides 1 to 4 are plain numbers, and the range tells you the airside: 1 to 29 is Airside 1, 30 to 59 Airside 3, 70 to 99 Airside 4 and 100 to 129 Airside 2. Not every number in a range is used. The directory skips gates 18 and 19 in Airside 1, for example, and goes from 112 to 120 in Airside 2.
Terminal C gates start with C, from C230 to C254. MCO built them as MARS gates, which can take more than one aircraft, and the directory lists some with A and B versions, such as C250A and C250B. Gates can change, so check your boarding pass and the airport screens.
