JFK Parking: Long-Term Lot, Garage Rates and How to Book

The cheapest official parking at JFK is the Long-Term Parking Lot: $45 per 24 hours if you drive up, as low as $35 a day if you book online at least 3 hours ahead, with a free AirTrain ride to every terminal. The terminal garages cost more, with 24-hour maximums of $70 to $82. Space is tight because of construction, so book before you leave home.

Your JFK parking options

The Port Authority runs five public parking facilities at JFK:

  • Long-Term Parking Lot, by the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station
  • Terminal 4 Blue Lot
  • Terminal 5 Yellow Lot
  • Terminal 8 Red Lot
  • Federal Circle Station Lot, reservation only

Parking is limited right now because of construction and heavy traffic. The Port Authority's advice is blunt: take public transit if you can, and book a space in advance if you can't.

Flying from Terminal 1? It has no garage of its own anymore. The old Green Garage closed for good in 2022, and the official recommendation is the Terminal 8 Red Lot. In October 2025 the Port Authority reported a new Terminal 1 garage under construction; no opening date or rates are published yet.

JFK parking rates by lot

Official rates read on jfkairport.com on October 8, 2026. Prices change, so check the Port Authority parking page before you go.

  • Long-Term Parking Lot: $45 per 24 hours drive-up, from $35 a day prebooked
  • Terminal 8 Red Lot: $70 per 24 hours drive-up, from $56 a day prebooked
  • Terminal 5 Yellow Lot: $75 per day drive-up, from $59 a day prebooked
  • Terminal 4 Blue Lot: $82 per 24 hours drive-up, from $66 a day prebooked
  • Federal Circle Station Lot: prebook only, from $45 a day

In the terminal garages, the first half hour costs $6. After that the meter runs in half-hour steps and adds up fast, so for anything beyond a quick stop, read the full rate table on the official page. Prebook prices are "as low as" figures: your actual quote depends on dates and demand.

Long-term parking at JFK

The Long-Term Parking Lot is the cheapest official option. It sits next to the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station, and the AirTrain ride to the terminals is free. You only pay the AirTrain fare when you enter or exit at Jamaica or Howard Beach. Trains come every 5 to 15 minutes.

It is also the lot for tall vehicles, with an 11'6" clearance. The garages are much lower.

Heads up: the AirTrain shuts down overnight, 10 pm to 6 am, on the nights of October 13-14, 14-15 and 15-16, 2026. Free shuttle buses replace it between the stations and the terminals during those hours, so leave extra time.

Booking parking online

Booking on the official Port Authority site saves money and guarantees you a space. A few rules:

  • Book at least 3 hours before you arrive.
  • A reservation lasts from 1 hour up to 30 days.
  • You can show up as much as two hours early.
  • Each garage has premium spaces closer to the terminal, and you can only get them online.

At the gate, the system reads your license plate on the way in and on the way out. If it misreads, scan the QR code from your reservation, or press the call button for help so you don't pay twice.

Federal Circle Station Lot works by reservation only. No booking, no entry.

Which garage for your terminal

Each terminal AirTrain station sits next to that terminal's short-term lot.

  • Terminal 1: park in the Terminal 8 Red Lot.
  • Terminal 4: Blue Lot. Capacity is reduced during construction, and prebook discounts also apply in the adjacent Red Garage. The clearance is only 6'4".
  • Terminal 5: Yellow Lot. Clearance is 8'2" on Level A and 7'6" from Level B up, including premium parking on Level 5.
  • Terminal 8: Red Lot. Clearance is 8'2" on Level A and 7'6" from Level B up.
  • Terminal 7: the official parking page lists the T7 Orange garage as closed and points to the Terminal 8 Red Lot. Since September 22, 2026, the garage hosts all T7 pick-ups and drop-offs instead.

If your van or SUV is too tall for a garage, head to the Long-Term Parking Lot.

Cheap parking near JFK

The lowest official rates are prebooked: from $35 a day at the Long-Term Parking Lot and from $45 a day at the Federal Circle Station Lot. Federal Circle has an uncovered walk to its AirTrain station and no ADA discount, so the Long-Term Lot is usually the easier pick.

Private lots outside the airport run shuttles to the terminals. The Port Authority tells travelers to park only on the airport or with an authorized off-airport provider, and it lists the authorized ones on its parking page. Check that list before you hand over your keys.

Paying, E-ZPass and EV charging

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, debit cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo, E-ZPass, and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Express Pay machines speed up the exit.

E-ZPass Plus works for drive-up stays only. Enter through the lanes with purple E-ZPass signs, no ticket needed. Depending on the amount, the fee comes off your E-ZPass balance or goes to the credit card linked to the account. You must be registered for E-ZPass Plus, and it cannot pay for a prebooked reservation.

Driving electric? The Terminal 5 Yellow Lot has free Level 2 ChargePoint chargers, though you still pay to park. Paid Level 3 fast chargers are at the West Cell Phone Lot and the JFK Travel Plaza.

Accessible parking

Every lot has spaces for drivers with disabilities, including near terminal entrances and in the long-term lot near the Howard Beach and Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain stations. Display a valid state-issued ADA plate, placard or permit.

With that credential, a courtesy discount caps your parking charges at $35 per 24 hours. To get it:

  • Enter through a ticket lane, not an E-ZPass lane.
  • Press HELP at the exit to get your ticket validated.

The discount does not combine with prebooking or E-ZPass, and ADA spaces cannot be reserved. At the Terminal 4 Blue Lot, drivers with a valid ADA placard or tag do not need to prebook.

Dropping off or picking up

Terminal curbs are for active loading only. You can't wait there unless your passenger and their bags are ready, and an unattended car gets towed at the owner's expense. To meet someone inside, park in one of the terminal garages.

Two free places to wait in your car:

  • Lefferts Boulevard wait lot: at the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station, good for pick-ups and drop-offs, closest to Terminals 1 and 4. Passengers ride the free AirTrain to any terminal in about 8 minutes. Set your GPS to "JFK Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain Station" or follow the Wait Lot signs. You must stay in your vehicle.
  • Cell Phone Lot: near the JFK Expressway, less than five minutes from all terminals and the closest wait lot for Terminals 5, 7 and 8. Set your GPS to "JFK Cell Phone Lot".

What's different right now:

  • Since September 22, 2026, Terminal 7 pick-ups and drop-offs happen inside the T7 parking garage, and the T7 taxi stand is on the garage's first level. Over-height vehicles use a separate area outside.
  • Uber, Lyft and car-service pick-ups for Terminals 5 and 7 are at a lot by the Howard Beach AirTrain station. Drop-offs still happen at the terminal front.

Long stays, towing and help

Parking for more than 30 days? Register your car with ABM Parking when you arrive by calling +1 (718) 244-4168. Unregistered vehicles left more than 30 days are treated as abandoned and towed.

The same number handles general parking questions and free roadside help, such as a flat tire, a lockout, a jump start or finding your car. For a crime, an accident or a medical emergency, call +1 (718) 244-4335.

If your car has been towed, use the contact on the Port Authority parking page. The page currently lists two different numbers, so confirm there before you call.
