How JFK's food directory works
The airport's online directory, at jfkairport.com/dine-shop-relax/food, lists 204 results. It also includes stores such as Hudson News, so not every result is a place to sit and eat. You can filter by location, by after security or outside security, and by tags such as Breakfast, Coffee & Tea, Halal, Kosher, Gluten-Free and Vegetarian & Vegan.
The directory shows 31 results for Terminal 1, 57 for Terminal 4, 35 for Terminal 5 and 15 for Terminal 7. It loads 12 at a time, so this guide covers the places we could read in full. For the rest, use the filters on the airport's site.
The airport warns that actual opening and closing times may not always match the hours listed. Hours below are the daily ranges it posts.
Eating before security
These are the places the airport lists as outside security, so you can use them without a boarding pass:
- Terminal 1: Euro Cafe, Level 1 near Arrivals, 8 a.m. to midnight.
- Terminal 5: CIBO, Level 3 near Check-In, 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Farmer's Fridge machine on Level 1 near Arrivals.
- Terminal 7: a Farmer's Fridge machine on Level 3 near Gate 2, listed as open 24 hours.
- Jamaica Station (AirTrain): Air Bar, Level 2, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday to Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight on Sunday.
Terminal 1 also has an Arrivals Eatery with Dunkin', Camden Food Company and other cafes for travelers after they clear customs. Dunkin' is listed at the Terminal 5 Check-In and Baggage Claim and at Terminal 7 Arrivals, but the pages we read do not say whether each one is before or after security.
Every other venue we read in detail that shows an area is after security.
Open early: from 4 a.m.
Early flights are easier once you are through security. These listings open at 4 a.m. or 4:30 a.m. every day:
- 4 a.m.: Bagel Boss in the Terminal 8 Food Hall (until 10 p.m.), Bryant Park Market in Terminal 5 near Gate 521 (until midnight), and Apartment 7B Deli & Market in the Terminal 7 Food Court (until 6 p.m.).
- 4:30 a.m.: Eataly Restaurant near Gate 509 and Eataly Market near Gate 519 in Terminal 5 (both until 11 p.m.), and BKLYN Blend near Gate 12 in Terminal 8 (until 10 p.m.).
A little later, Dromos in Terminal 4 opens at 5 a.m., Chocolate & More in Terminal 4 opens at 6 a.m., Bento Sushi in Terminal 4 opens at 7 a.m. and Bessou in Terminal 4 opens at 9 a.m.
Boulton & Watt in Terminal 4 is listed as open 24 hours. Posted hours can differ from reality, and many listings we read did not include hours at all, so treat this as a starting point.
Open late and 24 hours
Not much is posted past midnight. What we found:
- 24 hours: Boulton & Watt in Terminal 4 (after security) and the Farmer's Fridge machine in Terminal 7 (listed as outside security).
- Until midnight: Euro Cafe and Eat & Go Istanbul in Terminal 1, Bryant Park Market in Terminal 5, Bento Sushi in Terminal 7, and Buffalo Wild Wings in Terminal 4 near Gate B26. Midnight is shown as 12:00 AM on the airport's pages.
- Until 11 p.m.: Eataly in Terminal 5 and Chocolate & More in Terminal 4.
- Until 2 a.m. Monday to Saturday: Air Bar at Jamaica Station, which is on the AirTrain route to JFK and not inside a terminal.
If your flight leaves very late or very early, check the venue's page on the airport's site first. Hours can change.

For the full Terminal 8 list, choose Terminal 8 in the filter on the airport's food page.
Dietary options and ordering ahead
The directory has tags for Halal, Kosher, Gluten-Free and Vegetarian & Vegan. From the pages we read:
- Halal: Eat & Go Istanbul, Terminal 1 Gate 5.
- Kosher: Downtown Market in Terminal 1 (including drinks) and Bryant Park Market in Terminal 5.
- Vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free tags: Bento Sushi in Terminal 7 and the Farmer's Fridge machine in Terminal 7. Dromos in Terminal 4 lists vegan.
Tags are the venue's own labels, so confirm ingredients with staff if you have an allergy.
Ordering ahead: Beacon Bar & Kitchen in Terminal 4 lets you order from your table with a QR code or at kiosks, and BKLYN Blend in Terminal 8 lists an online ordering page. We found no airport-wide mobile ordering service in the pages we read, so check each venue's listing.
