Hotels Near JFK Airport: TWA Hotel, Shuttles, Minute Suites

The closest bed is the TWA Hotel, JFK's only on-airport hotel: a short walk from Terminal 5, or about 5 minutes on the free AirTrain from any other terminal. JFK's official hotel shuttle list names 13 off-airport hotels, most of them in Jamaica, Queens, about 1.7 to 2.3 miles from the terminals as the crow flies. To catch their shuttles, JFK sends you to Federal Circle, a free AirTrain ride away.

Hotels near JFK with a free shuttle

JFK's official hotel page lists 13 off-airport hotels in its shuttle table. Seven of them sit within about 0.7 mile of Federal Circle as the crow flies, in a tight cluster in Jamaica, Queens. Here is what each one says about its shuttle.

  • Courtyard by Marriott New York JFK Airport: free 24-hour shuttle. Call 718-848-2121 to reserve your seat.
  • Hampton Inn NY-JFK: free shuttle 24/7. Call the hotel.
  • Marriott New York JFK Airport: free shuttle every 30 minutes, listed 24/7 by JFK. Request pickup at TrackMyShuttle.com/2552.

  • DoubleTree by Hilton New York JFK Airport: free shuttle, call for pickup. JFK lists it as 24/7.
  • Best Western JFK Airport Hotel: free 24-hour shuttle from Federal Circle Station C.
  • Fairfield Inn New York JFK Airport: free round-trip shuttle on request. No hours published.
  • Hilton Garden Inn Queens/JFK Airport: free shuttle from 5 AM to 11 PM daily.

  • Quality Inn JFK Airport Rockaway Blvd: on JFK's list, with no shuttle details published. Call the hotel.
  • Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York: the hotel's own FAQ says it does not offer an airport shuttle at this time and suggests a rideshare or the A train to Aqueduct/North Conduit. JFK's list still shows a shuttle from that station, so call the hotel before you count on it.

Distances on this page are straight-line distances (as the crow flies), calculated from OpenStreetMap data. The drive is longer. Shuttle details change, so confirm with your hotel before you book.

How to catch your hotel shuttle at JFK

According to the TWA Hotel, JFK does not allow hotel or rental car shuttles in the central terminal area. Don't wait at the arrivals curb: JFK points you to Federal Circle. Here is the drill.

  • Collect your bags, and clear customs if you are flying in from abroad.
  • Ride the AirTrain to Federal Circle, JFK's hotel shuttle pick-up and drop-off area. It is on both the Jamaica and Howard Beach lines, free inside the airport, and runs 24/7 outside planned closures (see below).
  • Request your pickup. Some shuttles run on a schedule, others want a call or an online request. Marriott and Residence Inn use TrackMyShuttle, and Five Towns Inn asks you to call once you have your bags.
  • Staying at the Comfort Inn? Go down to street level at Federal Circle for the van, and book your return trip at check-in.

JFK itself tells travelers to confirm with the hotel that a shuttle is offered. For the ride back to the airport, ask the front desk where the shuttle drops you off.

What is changing right now

  • AirTrain overnight shutdowns: JFK has announced a full service disruption on all AirTrain lines from 10 PM to 6 AM on the nights of October 13, 14 and 15, 2026 (the last one ends Friday, October 16, at 6 AM), with free replacement shuttle buses. Landing late those nights? Allow extra time to reach Federal Circle or the TWA Hotel.
  • Terminal 8 at night: according to Minute Suites, ongoing terminal redevelopment means Terminal 8 cannot be accessed between 11:30 PM and 3:00 AM, so its suite there is out of reach too. We found no matching notice on JFK's site.

Check JFK's AirTrain page before you fly, since service notices are updated there.

TWA Hotel: the only hotel at JFK

The TWA Hotel is the one hotel on airport grounds. It sits next to Terminal 5 and has 512 rooms, with views of the runways or of the TWA Flight Center.

  • From Terminal 5: walk through the original TWA Flight Center tubes. There is also an elevator on the far right of the T5 baggage claim, on the ground floor, that takes you up to the hotel's tube.
  • From any other terminal: ride the free AirTrain to the Terminal 5 stop, about 5 minutes, then follow the signs.

The hotel is outside security. On an international layover, you clear customs first, and every guest goes through security again before the next flight. The hotel's own address is One Idlewild Drive, New York, NY 11430-1962.

No room? You can still visit. The lobby and museum exhibits are open to anyone, and so are Paris Café, Connie and The Sunken Lounge. In the Food Hall, the TWA Corner Store and Vinny's Panini are open 24/7. For the rooftop infinity pool and observation deck, the hotel says no reservation is needed from 7 AM to 10:30 AM, and that reservation rules otherwise vary by season.

Day rooms and short stays at JFK

Long layover but no overnight? Two options sell time by the hour.

  • TWA Hotel Daytripper: book by the hour between 6 AM and 8 PM ET, for 4 to 12 hours. These bookings are non-refundable and cannot be moved or cancelled for any reason, weather included.
  • Minute Suites: private suites past security in Terminals 4 and 8, bookable from one hour (details below).

Staying overnight at the TWA Hotel? Check-in is 4 PM ET and checkout 11 AM ET. Early check-in costs $75 from 8 AM to noon or $25 from noon to 2 PM. Late checkout runs from $50 (2 PM) to $150 (6 PM). Neither is guaranteed, and fees change, so check the hotel's FAQ before you count on them. The hotel holds bags free for up to 5 hours before check-in or after checkout. At least one guest must be 18 or older with valid government ID.

Minute Suites: private rooms after security

We could not confirm any capsule-style sleep pods at JFK on an official source. The closest thing is Minute Suites: private rooms past security that you rent by the hour.

  • Terminal 4: in Concourse B, next to Gate B39. Open 24/7 with no last-booking cutoff, and overnight stays are allowed. Each suite locks and has a sofa, desk, TV and Wi-Fi. Showers cost extra, when available.
  • Terminal 8: near Gate C37 in Concourse C. No showers. Minute Suites says Terminal 8 cannot be accessed between 11:30 PM and 3:00 AM during redevelopment.

You need a same-day boarding pass on an airline that flies from that terminal. Arriving from abroad? You will have to go back through TSA first. Check rates on the Minute Suites site when you book.

Can you sleep in JFK Airport?

We found no official JFK rule on sleeping in the terminals. For resting before a flight, the airport's FAQ points you to lounges, relaxation areas, prayer and meditation rooms, and spas.

Stuck overnight? Ask your airline what stays open in your terminal and where you can wait. If you can leave the airport, a hotel with a 24-hour shuttle or the TWA Hotel is the surer bet. Just remember that coming back means another pass through security.
