DTW Gate Map: McNamara A, B, C and Evans D Gates

DTW gates sit in two terminals. McNamara, Delta's terminal, has Concourses A, B and C; the ExpressTram runs along the mile-long Concourse A. Evans has the D gates. To change terminals, take the free shuttle: it runs outside security, so you clear TSA again.

How to get to your gate at DTW

Start with your terminal, which depends on your airline. Delta, Aeromexico, Air France and WestJet use the McNamara Terminal, with Concourses A, B and C. American, United, Southwest and 10 other airlines use the Evans Terminal, where gates start with D. Some boarding passes show EM for McNamara and WE for Evans.

McNamara has three checkpoint areas: the ticketing lobby on Level 3, the bridge from the parking garage on Level 2 and the Westin hotel. Evans has one, in its ticketing lobby. At least one McNamara checkpoint is open around the clock, while Evans screening is closed daily from 10:45 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., depending on late flights.

Getting around McNamara: ExpressTram and tunnel

Concourse A is a mile long, and the ExpressTram runs from one end to the other. It has three stations:

South Station: gates A1 to A28
Terminal Station, in the middle: gates A29 to A55, check-in, baggage claim and the tunnel to Concourses B and C
North Station: gates A56 to A78

The tram does not go to Concourse B or C. For a B or C gate, get off at the Terminal Station and take the tunnel. Moving walkways help along the way. DTW does not publish walking times, so leave extra time if your gate is far away.

Changing terminals at DTW

The free Terminal to Terminal shuttle links McNamara, Evans and the Westin hotel entrance, leaving about every 10 minutes from the Ground Transportation Centers. It runs outside security, so you clear TSA again at the other terminal.

DTW says 40 minutes should be enough for a domestic connection on the same airline. Allow more time when you change airlines or terminals, or fly internationally.

Reading the gate numbers

The letter of your gate is its concourse: A1 to A78, B1 to B21, C1 to C27 and D1 to D32. Not every number is used. The official map lists no A13, A14 or A16, no B9, no C13 and no D7, for example, and Evans has no D27, D29 or D31.

Questions travelers ask

How many gates does DTW have?

The gate directory of the official DTW interactive maps lists 131 gates (checked October 10, 2026): 63 in Concourse A, 17 in Concourse B and 25 in Concourse C at McNamara, and 26 in Concourse D at Evans.

Which terminal is my gate in at DTW?

Gates starting with A, B or C are in the McNamara Terminal. Gates starting with D are in the Evans Terminal. Check your boarding pass and the airport screens, because gates can change.

Does the ExpressTram go to Concourses B and C?

No. DTW says the ExpressTram only runs end to end along Concourse A. For Concourses B and C, get off at the Terminal Station in the middle of Concourse A and take the tunnel.

How do I get from McNamara to Evans?

Take the free Terminal to Terminal shuttle, which leaves about every 10 minutes from the Ground Transportation Centers. It runs outside security, so you go through TSA again.

Where are the lounges near the gates at DTW?

DTW's directory lists Delta Sky Clubs near Gates A43, A67 and A15, on Concourses B and C and at the Central Link in McNamara. At Evans, the Lufthansa lounge is near Gate D8. Free Freedom Centers for the military are near Gates A43 and D17.
