Denver International Airport
DEN Airport Guide: Concourses, Airlines, Train and Security
Denver International Airport has one passenger terminal, the Jeppesen Terminal, and three concourses: A, B and C. You check in and clear security in the terminal, then take the train to the gates, or walk a bridge to Concourse A. United is the largest airline at DEN, and Southwest and Frontier fly a lot here too. Construction is changing the terminal through the end of 2027, so check your airline's check-in level before you leave.

International flights arrive here, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection is located. United runs the A-West expansion area, and six of its 12 gates are for international flights. Airlines move between concourses, so check your boarding pass.

DEN terminals and airlines by concourse
DEN has one passenger terminal, the Jeppesen Terminal, and three concourses: A, B and C. Everyone checks in and clears security in the Jeppesen Terminal, then rides the train to the gates, or on Concourse A, walks a bridge. United is DEN's largest airline, and it carried more than 41.4 million passengers there in 2025. Southwest and Frontier also have big operations at DEN.
- Jeppesen Terminal: Level 6 has security and check-in for United, Southwest and Frontier. Level 5 has baggage claim, arrivals and temporary check-in counters for the other airlines.
- Concourse A: Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, Breeze, British Airways, Delta, Frontier, Icelandair, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Sun Country, Volaris and United. International flights arrive here. DEN lists Alaska as moving to Concourse A from Concourse C in 2026.
- Concourse B: United. B-West opened in November 2020 and B-East in October 2022. B gates run past B89.
- Concourse C: American and Southwest, plus the commuter airlines Boutique Air and Denver Air Connection in the facility below gates C66 and C67. All 16 gates of C-East are leased to Southwest.
This list follows DEN's airline directory, and it does not name every airline. For example, DEN's pages do not say which concourse Spirit uses, and third-party guides disagree. Your boarding pass and the flydenver.com departures page show your gate.
Where to check in
Every airline checks in at the Jeppesen Terminal, but the level depends on your airline right now.
- United (west side), Southwest (east side) and Frontier (east side) stay on Level 6, next to the security checkpoints.
- Delta, Air France, WestJet and the other airlines have temporary ticket counters on Level 5.
- British Airways, Lufthansa, Air Canada and Aeromexico list their ticket counters in the center of Level 5.
Even-numbered doors are on the west side and odd-numbered doors are on the east side. Use the side that matches your airline for drop-off. DEN has an airline check-in locations page on flydenver.com, and your airline can tell you the door.
What's changing at DEN right now
Check these before you fly:
- The Great Hall Program is renovating the Jeppesen Terminal. DEN says the whole program should finish by the end of 2027, with sections opening along the way. The East Security Checkpoint opened on August 5, 2025, and the West checkpoint opened in 2024.
- The south bridge linking the east and west sides of Level 6 and its escalator from Level 5 are closed. DEN says the bridge will reopen before Thanksgiving 2026. Use Level 5 to cross between the east and west sides.
- All airlines except United, Southwest and Frontier have temporarily moved their ticket counters to the domestic arrivals area on Level 5. One DEN page says they stay about 24 months, until summer 2026, but another DEN page still lists them on Level 5 as of October 2026. Check with your airline.
- Elevators at Door 517 on the east side do not reach Level 6, and Door 516 on the west side is closed to all levels. Use the elevators between Doors 511 and 513 (east) or 510 and 512 (west).
- Curbside doors on the south end of Level 6 are closed: doors 612 to 616 on the west side and 611 to 617 on the east side. Ask your airline which door to use.
- There are no restrooms on the north end of Level 6. Use the ones between doors 608 and 610 or 609 and 611.
- DEN plans a consolidated rental car facility on the 78th Avenue employee lot, but no decision on financing or delivery has been made.
DEN says delays should be minimal, but it asks you to check flydenver.com before you head to the airport.
Getting between the terminal and the gates
DEN recommends the train for Concourses B and C. Take it from the terminal after security. Concourse A has a second option. After security, a 1,100-foot walkway above the taxiway leads to the A gates. DEN says the average walk from security to Concourse A is 5 to 15 minutes depending on your gate. DEN still recommends the train if you have heavy bags, are going to Concourse B or C, or have reduced mobility. The bridge has moving walkways and elevators. DEN's average walk times from security, which add up the walk or ride to your gate, are 5 to 15 minutes for A gates, 7 to 13 minutes for B gates and 9 to 15 minutes for C gates. If you arrive at Concourse A, follow the baggage claim signs to the mezzanine level and cross the bridge. Then take the elevator to Level 5 for baggage claim and ground transportation. DEN does not publish a train timetable. Plan with its walk times above, which include the ride. DEN's accessibility page says escalators and elevators lead down to the train stations, and wheelchair users should use the middle cars. For help, ask at one of the four customer service booths, in the terminal and in the center of each concourse.
International flights and customs
DEN has no separate international terminal. The Jeppesen Terminal handles domestic and international flights, and international flights arrive at Concourse A, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection is located. In 2025 DEN served 4,867,484 international passengers, a record and 5.9% of its traffic. If you connect from an international flight to a domestic one, you clear Customs and Border Protection in the Jeppesen Terminal, recheck your bags outside the customs area, go through TSA screening, and take the train to your gate in Concourse A, B or C. The minimum connection time is set by your airline, not the airport. Ask your airline, and leave extra time. DEN recommends arriving three hours before an international departure.
Rental cars
There are no rental car counters in the terminal. DEN lists 11 rental companies, and all of them use courtesy shuttles from Level 5, Island 4, outside doors 505 to 513 on the east side or 504 to 512 on the west side. Avis and Payless say the ride takes about 5 to 7 minutes. Our car rental guide has the company addresses and phone numbers.

Security, arrivals and the curb
DEN has two checkpoints, both on Level 6: East Security, behind the Southwest check-in counters, and West Security, behind the United counters. DEN recommends arriving at least 2 hours before boarding.
- East Security: standard screening 3:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., TSA PreCheck 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- West Security: standard screening 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., TSA PreCheck 4:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
- CLEAR is available at both checkpoints. PreCheck passengers enter at entrance 3 of each checkpoint.
DEN shows live security wait estimates at flydenver.com/security. The home page and the security page can show different numbers, so check the page before you leave. DEN recommends arriving three hours before an international departure. Arriving passengers collect bags on Level 5. DEN's ground transportation information counter is in the center of Level 5 and is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. Its phone number is (303) 342-4059. The Cell Phone Lot, called Final Approach, is free and about three miles west of the terminal.
Wi-Fi
DEN provides free wireless internet access throughout the airport. Choose "DEN Airport Free WiFi" or "DEN Airport Free WiFi 2.4" in your device settings, then select Connect. If it fails, turn your Wi-Fi off and on again. DEN says there are many electrical outlets in the Jeppesen Terminal and on all three concourses, and dedicated battery charging stations with seating and work surfaces. The American Admirals Club and the B Gates United Club also list Wi-Fi.
