CLT Gate Map: Concourses A to E, Gate by Gate

Charlotte Douglas (CLT) has one terminal and five concourses, A to E. The letter of your gate is its concourse. Past security, all concourses are linked on the secure side: CLT says all concourses and aircraft gates are accessible from any security checkpoint, and its pages describe no train between concourses.

How to get to your gate at CLT

CLT has three security checkpoints, and every concourse and gate is reachable from any of them. Pick the shortest line: live wait times are on cltairport.com/airport-info/security.

Past security, all concourses are linked on the secure side, and you walk to your gate. Elevators, escalators and moving walkways run through the Atrium and each concourse. CLT has no motorized passenger carts, so if walking is hard, ask your airline for wheelchair service.

CLT doesn't print walking times between concourses. Its interactive map estimates the walk between any two points, so check it before you set off.

How the concourses connect

All five concourses are linked on the secure side, so you never leave it to change concourse.

  • Concourses A and B meet at the A/B Connector.
  • Concourses D and E meet at the D/E Connector.
  • The A Connector, to the right where Concourse A branches, is the quietest part of the airport, according to CLT.

CLT's airline list doesn't say which concourse each airline uses. Your boarding pass or airline app shows your gate, and gates can change, so watch the airport screens.

Reading the gate numbers

Each concourse shows its first and last gate, for example A1 to A39. Not every number in between is used:

  • Concourse A has no A14 to A20.
  • Concourse C starts at C2.
  • Concourse E has no E33 to E35.

CLT's interactive map lists some lettered Concourse E gates (E14A, E14B, E16A, plus combined entries "E14 A,B" and "E16 A,B"); the printable map shows only E14 and E16. We list each number so the finder recognizes it. Open the gate list of a concourse to see every gate, or type your gate in the finder above.

Work on the concourses

Concourse A's second expansion phase added 10 gates at its north end and was completed in fall 2024. Renovations are done on Concourses A, B and C and the Atrium, and CLT says work will soon move to Concourses D and E; CLT's project page still shows a 2025 completion date. Expansions of Concourses B and C are listed as planned.

Questions travelers ask

How many gates does CLT have?

The gate directory of CLT's official interactive map has 125 gate entries (checked October 10, 2026): 32 in A, 16 in B, 18 in C, 13 in D and 46 in E, including lettered and combined entries at E14 and E16. The printable map shows 121 numbered gates.

Which concourse is my gate in at CLT?

The letter of your gate is the concourse: gate B12 is in Concourse B, gate E36 in Concourse E. CLT's airline list doesn't give concourses, so check your boarding pass or airline app.

Is there a train between concourses at CLT?

CLT's pages describe no train or shuttle between concourses. You walk, with elevators, escalators and moving walkways to help.

Can I reach any gate from any security checkpoint at CLT?

Yes. CLT says all concourses and gates are accessible from any of its three checkpoints, so choose the one with the shortest wait.

How long does it take to walk between concourses at CLT?

CLT doesn't publish fixed walking times. Its interactive map estimates the walk time between two points, so look up your route there and leave extra time on a tight connection.
