LAX terminals and airlines by terminal
LAX has Terminals 1 to 8, the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) and the Tom Bradley West Gates. Here is where the main airlines check in, according to LAX's airline list:
- Terminal 1: Allegiant, Cayman Airways, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country, Viva Aerobus. Allegiant, Cayman, Frontier, Sun Country and Viva Aerobus are bused to the West Gates, as are Southwest international check-ins. Frontier and Sun Country passengers are bused back to T1 for baggage claim. Southwest domestic flights use T1 gates 9 to 18B. Allegiant is on LAX's airline list but not on its July 2026 map, so confirm it with the airline.
- Terminal 2: check-in only for LATAM, Virgin Atlantic, WestJet and Norse. WestJet goes through security and departs from T3. Norse is on the airline list but not on LAX's July 2026 map, so confirm it with the airline.
- Terminal 3: Delta and Aeromexico. The old T2 gates 20 to 28 are now part of T3.
- Terminal 4: American, American Eagle, British Airways, Japan Airlines, Contour. American Eagle and Contour passengers are bused to gates 52A to 52I.
- Terminal 5: closed for construction.
- Terminal 6: Air Canada, Alaska, Breeze, Hawaiian, Horizon, Porter, Southern Airways Express.
- Terminals 7 and 8: United and United Express.
- Tom Bradley (TBIT): about 45 international airlines, including Air France, Emirates, Lufthansa, Qantas and Singapore. Aer Lingus and Flair passengers walk to Terminal 4 for baggage claim. Etihad and Hainan are on LAX's Tom Bradley page but not on its July 2026 map, so confirm them with the airline.
- West Gates (gates 201 to 225): opened May 2021. Several Terminal 1 and 2 airlines are bused here.
This follows LAX's airline list and its airline location map dated July 1, 2026. Airlines move, so confirm yours on your boarding pass or on flylax.com. The airport's official map page has an interactive map and PDFs for airline locations and parking.
What's changing at LAX right now
Check these before you fly:
- Terminal 5 is closed for construction, and LAX's July 2026 airline map labels it closed until 2028. LAX anticipates reopening it in 2028 and tells passengers to ask their airline about check-in and gates. JetBlue is now listed at Terminal 1 and American at Terminal 4.
- Terminal 3 has grown. Gates 20 to 28, formerly Terminal 2, are now part of Delta's T3 complex and are reached from T3.
- SkyLink, the free automated train, is not open to travelers yet. It is in final testing and certification, and no opening date is published. Use the shuttles for now.
- LAX Fast Lane, the free security reservation program, ended on January 6, 2026.
- The LAX Rental Car Center, at 5251 W 98th St., opened on March 11, 2026. Rental shuttles leave from the purple sign outside baggage claim on the Lower/Arrivals level.
- LAWA's summer 2026 guide said there is active work in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, Terminal 4 and the future Terminal 5, with roadway closures in and around the terminal area. Allow extra time and check the interactive map at flylax.com/map.
Arrivals, departures and getting to the curb
For flight times and gate changes, check your airline or flylax.com. We don't repost flight information here.
LAX recommends arriving 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one.
On arrival, LAWA says passengers typically reach the curb about 15 minutes after landing with no checked bags, 30 minutes if they checked bags and 45 minutes on international arrivals.
How the curbs work:
- Drop-off, for private cars, taxis and ride apps, is on the Upper/Departures level.
- Private pickup is on the outer curb of the Lower/Arrivals level, outside baggage claim.
- Taxis and ride apps (Lyft, Opoli and Uber) pick up at LAX-it, next to Terminal 1. Take the free green LAX-it shuttle from the Lower/Arrivals level or walk. LAX's estimator shows walks of about 2 minutes from T1, 4 from T7 and 10 from T4.
- Hotel shuttles stop on the Upper/Departures level at the red pylons.
- Meeting someone? Two free cell phone lots, at 6217 W. 96th Street and 5800 W. Century Blvd., let you wait up to 2 hours.
Getting around LAX and to the city
Past security, you can walk between the open terminals. LAWA said in October 2023 that the path from T1 to T8 is about 2 miles, and Terminal 5 is closed now, so follow the signs. Aeromexico has an airside bus from T3 to Tom Bradley, and American Eagle flights use a remote terminal with airside shuttle buses from T4 and T6.
Outside security, you can walk between terminals. LAX's airline map says to allow about 10 to 15 minutes between each terminal. Or take the free Terminal Connector shuttle: stand under the pink LAX Shuttles sign on the Lower/Arrivals level. It runs every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day. The same pink LAX Shuttle also serves Economy Parking and the LAX/Metro Transit Center.
If you need an accessible ride between terminals, LAX has an on-call ADA shuttle, requested through an airline agent, running 6 a.m. to midnight with waits of up to 25 minutes. That comes from an undated LAX FAQ, so confirm with your airline.
From the LAX/Metro Transit Center station you can take Metro's C and K lines. A free LAX shuttle runs between the station and every terminal.
FlyAway buses run from LAX to Union Station and Van Nuys. They board at the blue FlyAway columns on the Lower/Arrivals level. Check the fare and schedule on the FlyAway page, since fares change.
There is no train at the terminals yet: SkyLink is not open.

Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is available in the public areas of all terminals. Join the network called _LAX Free WiFi. Sessions last 45 minutes, and you can start a new one as often as you like after a 15 to 30 second ad. A paid premium option is available through Boingo. For help, call +1-800-880-4117.
Lost and found
LAX Lost and Found is run by the Airport Police, and claims are made online only. They don't take phone inquiries, and there is no fee. Staff review claims Monday to Friday, and LAX says the average response takes 5 to 7 business days. Property is held for 97 days.
The unit handles items left in public areas such as baggage claim, gate areas and airport parking lots. It does not handle items left in TSA areas or on aircraft. For something left at a TSA checkpoint, use TSA's lost and found page at tsa.gov/contact/lost-and-found. LAX says such items reach Airport Police after about 5 to 10 business days. For something left on a plane, contact your airline.
Other contacts LAX lists: the LAX Budget Lot at (310) 646-2911, U.S. Customs for lost passports at (310) 665-4560, and FlyAway at 1-866-iFlyLAX.
One LAX page lists a walk-in office and a phone number, but LAX's main lost and found page says inquiries are online only. File the online claim at flylax.com/lost-n-found.
