Hotels Near IAD: Dulles Airport Hotel Shuttle Pickup

No. Neither the Main Terminal nor the concourses have a hotel, and the airport's site lists none. Its master plan only says future work around the terminals could include the potential development of a hotel, with no date.

If you want to sleep near your gate, you need an off-airport hotel and a ride.

The airport authority says all hotel courtesy shuttles pick up and drop off passengers at curbs 2A and 2H, on the Commercial Ground Transportation Level of the Main Terminal. That is the lower level, down the ramp from Baggage Claim. Shared vans use the same curbs.

A hotel needs an airport permit to run a courtesy shuttle, but the airport does not publish a list of permitted hotels. Confirm the shuttle with the hotel itself.

The Washington Dulles Airport Marriott is at 45020 Aviation Drive, Dulles, VA 20166, phone 1-703-471-9500. It is the hotel Dulles names in its cell phone lot directions: take the Services exit, bear right onto Aviation Drive, and the hotel is on your right.

Marriott's site says the hotel includes a free shuttle to and from your flight every 15 minutes. Marriott's pages give no shuttle hours and no pickup spot, so call before a late arrival or an early flight.

The Hyatt Regency Dulles is at 2300 Dulles Corner Boulevard, Herndon, VA 20171. Ask the hotel whether it runs an airport shuttle, at what hours and where it picks up before you book.

Call or message the hotel and ask:

• Is the airport shuttle free?
• What hours does it run? Does it run when your flight lands or leaves?
• How often does it come, and do you need a reservation?
• Does it pick up at curbs 2A and 2H?

This page lists no room prices. Rates change daily, so check the hotel's own site.

Uber and Lyft use a dedicated curb on the ground level outside Baggage Claim, reached through Doors 2, 4 or 6. The zones are lettered 3A to 3H, and the app tells you which zone to use.

Shared vans to the DC area, Virginia and Maryland load on the lower level, outside the Terminal, down the ramp at Door 2 or Door 6, at curbs 2A and 2H. Washington Flyer taxis run 24/7 from Door 1 or Door 7; the airport FAQ says Doors 2 or 6.

The Dulles Airport Metrorail station on the Silver Line connects to the Main Terminal by an indoor tunnel with moving sidewalks. Signs lead to it, and the tunnel also reaches Parking Garage 1.

If your hotel sits near a Silver Line stop, check the Metrorail website for fares, hours and service advisories.

Follow the terminal signs to Garage 1 for public buses. Fairfax Connector Route 952 serves Reston, including the Wiehle-Reston East and Reston Town Center Metro stations and the Herndon Metro station. It stops at Garage 1, Stop 2.

The airport does not publish bus fares or times, so check Fairfax Connector before you rely on it.

Dulles runs a free shuttle 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between the terminals and its on-airport parking garages and lots. It does not serve hotels. Do not wait for it unless you parked at the airport.

The airport publishes no list of hotels with 24 hour shuttles. If you land late, book a hotel that confirms in writing, by email or on its own site, that its shuttle runs at your arrival hour. Otherwise plan on a ride app or taxi, and ask the hotel about its late check in policy.
