Dallas Love Field Airport
DAL Airport Guide: Terminal, Airlines, Food and Wi-Fi
Dallas Love Field (DAL) has a single terminal with 20 gates, so there is no terminal to choose and no shuttle between terminals. Only two airlines are listed in the airport's official directory: Delta and Southwest, and Southwest is headquartered here. There are no international flights. The airport is about 7 miles from downtown Dallas. It recommends arriving at least 90 minutes before your flight, and the security checkpoint opens at 4:00 a.m.

DAL has one terminal and two airlines
Dallas Love Field has a single terminal with 20 gates, according to the airport's FAQ. There are no concourses to switch between.
- Delta Air Lines: 1 (800) 221-1212. No curbside check-in listed.
- Southwest Airlines: 1 (800) 435-9792. Curbside check-in is listed, with a $3 service fee per curbside checked bag, according to the airport's airline page (the fee is dated May 28, 2025 there, so confirm with Southwest). Southwest ticket counters open 120 minutes before the first departure.
The airport says all airlines recommend arriving at least two hours before departure, while the airport itself recommends at least 90 minutes. Ticket counter hours vary by airline, so check with yours. Curbside check-in and drop-off are on the upper roadway in front of Ticketing/Check-In on Herb Kelleher Way.
About DAL: Southwest's home airport
Love Field is the headquarters of Southwest Airlines, according to a 2026 Dallas Regional Chamber guide, and Southwest occupies most of the gates (18 of the 20 under a new agreement that takes effect in 2028, per a City of Dallas memo). A 2006 agreement among the cities, DFW Airport, American and Southwest capped the airport at 20 gates and barred international flights, the same memo says. If you are flying to or from another country, you will use DFW Airport instead. Love Field handled about 16.3 million passengers in 2024, according to the City of Dallas. The City plans a $2.5 billion expansion that includes relocating ticketing and baggage claim and expanding the terminal, with construction beginning in 2027, so expect the layout described here to change over the coming years.
Arrivals, departures and baggage claim
Drop-off for private cars, rideshare, taxis and limousines is on the upper-level curb near the ticketing hall. Baggage claim is outside the secure area on the first floor, with four carousels and display screens that show which one has your bags. Rideshare, taxi and limousine pickup is at the southeast end of the terminal, at the valet pavilion and Garage C. Follow the terminal signs and use the airport's interactive map for walking directions. The terminal lobby is open 24 hours a day, but the TSA checkpoint opens at 4:00 a.m. and hours can change with passenger counts.
Getting around the airport
With one terminal, there is no train or bus between terminals. Everything from the ticketing hall to the gates is inside the same building. Elevators, escalators and moving walkways are located throughout the terminal, and all restrooms are fully accessible. Wheelchairs and other help are available. The airport recommends arranging this through your airline, ideally at least 24 hours before departure, but you can also ask an airline employee when you arrive. The Airport Communications Center answers 24 hours a day at (214) 670-5683. Three staffed information booths are also in the terminal.
Where things are in the terminal
The 20 gates are in one building. The airport's dining list places restaurants in a few named areas: the lobby and Love Landing before security, then after security the Stem (the main hallway), the Terminal Concession Village, the East Wing and the West Wing. It also locates venues by gate: Gate 6, Gate 7, Gate 9, Gate 13 and Gate 16. Starbucks has an East location by Gates 6 and 9 and a West location by Gates 13 and 16. Hops & Grapes has an East and a West location too. The airport publishes an interactive terminal map at dallas-lovefield.com/passenger-services/terminal-map. Use the map to find your gate.
Food and drink
The airport lists 3 places before security: Applebee's-IHOP in the lobby (6am to 8pm or the last scheduled departure), Dunkin' Donuts at Love Landing (6am to 2pm) and Fly Bar at Love Landing (11:30am to 6pm). After security, the list includes Chick-fil-A, Chili's, Cantina Laredo, Campisi's, Maggiano's, Whataburger, Starbucks, Dickey's Barbecue Pit and more, with hours listed from as early as 4:30am (Dunkin' Donuts in the Concession Village, Jason's Deli, La Madeleine, LUV & GO and both Starbucks). Hours are subject to change. The airport's guide mentions a 24/7 option at Love Landing, but its dining list shows no overnight hours there, so do not count on food overnight.

Lost and found
Call (214) 670-4227. The office is on the second level of the public part of the terminal, near the Garage A/B skybridge and escalators. Hours listed: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items left at the TSA checkpoint or lost in the terminal go there. Items left on the gate bridge or on an aircraft go to the airline's lost and found. Items not claimed after 30 days are donated to the United Way. The airport's two pages show slightly different email addresses (AVILostFound@dallas.gov and AVILost&Found@dallas.gov), so call first if an email bounces.
Luggage storage
DAL does not have luggage storage, according to the airport's FAQ. You can check your bags with your airline up to four hours before your flight. If you have a long layover, ask your airline whether it can hold your bags.
Other services
The airport's amenities list shows a children's play area, a mothers' room, animal relief areas (one post-security and two outside), a prayer garden, a USO center, a sensory room, family restrooms, water bottle refill stations and a stage for live music called Live at Love, a shoe shine, a reverse ATM and free hygiene products. Five energy pods near Gate 9 power public charging stations in the terminal. Six Frost Bank ATMs are in the terminal, three before security and three after. Baggage carts can be rented outside near the ticketing hall, on the lower-level ground transportation area, on level 3 of the garages and at baggage claim. CLEAR provides TSA PreCheck enrollment on the west side of the security checkpoint entrance. A designated smoking area is on the upper-level curb outside the main entrance.
