  • Economy lot (all airlines, shuttle): $7 per hour, $25 per day.

Parking 1: closest to Terminal 1

Parking 1 is for Gates A1 to A9. An underground walkway connects it to Terminal 1. Take the elevator to the basement level. The airport's FAQ puts the walk at about 5 to 7 minutes, with moving sidewalks, escalators and elevators.

Enter on the west side of the airport. The entrance, next to the car rental return entrance, leads to levels 4 and 5, the only levels open to public parking. Height clearance is 7 feet. Rental car counters are on Level 1. Rental car returns use a separate entrance next to the public one, so follow the signs for your direction.

Parking 2: closest to Terminal 2

Parking 2 is for Gates B10 to E59. Covered walkways lead to Terminal 2. Take the elevator to Level 2. The FAQ says the walk is about 5 to 7 minutes.

Height clearance is 8 feet 2 inches. This garage also has the EV chargers.

Economy lot and the construction advisory

Economy is an outdoor lot with covered bus shelters but no covered parking spaces. A shuttle serves all terminals.

The airport says Economy capacity is down about 40 percent while a new parking structure is built inside the lot. Its advisory gives no start or finish date, only that construction extends into 2026, so expect limited space and check the live availability on the Parking Information page. Reserve ahead. The airport also suggests Metrorail if you do not have a reservation.

Parking shuttles

Shuttle bus service runs 24 hours a day. Two bus signs matter: Economy (between the Economy lot and all terminals) and Rental Car / Garage Parking (between the rental car facility, Parking 1 and 2, and all terminals).

From the garages, take the elevator to Level 1 and exit to the Parking/Rental Cars bus stop. Pick-up and drop-off for all shuttles at Terminal 2 is on the baggage claim (arrivals) level.

Garage shuttles run about every 5 to 10 minutes and the Economy shuttle about every 10 minutes, according to the airport's parking pages. Some FAQ answers say 10 to 15 minutes, so allow extra time at busy hours. Trip time is about 5 to 10 minutes from the garages and 10 to 15 minutes from Economy.

Reserving DCA parking and PassPark Rewards

Book at reserve.flyreagan.com. Reservations must be made at least 12 hours before you arrive. The FAQ says you can book up to a year ahead, while the booking page says no more than nine months, so you are safe booking inside nine months.

You do not get a specific space, but you are guaranteed one in the product you booked. Reservations are only valid in that lot or garage. At the gate you scan the QR code from your confirmation email. Online prices include tax and there is no reservation fee. Online stays run from 1 hour to 30 days (call 703-417-4300 ahead for longer).

You get a two-hour grace period around your entry window. Stay longer than your exit time and you pay the drive-up rate for the extra time. There are no refunds for coming home early. The airport gives three different change deadlines: one hour before your entry time (reservation FAQ), 12 hours (another answer in the same FAQ) and 24 hours (general FAQ page). Treat 24 hours as the safe limit and change plans early. You cannot extend a booking after you enter.

PassPark Rewards earns 1 point for every $1 you spend on reserved parking at DCA or Dulles. Points expire one year after you earn them. At 200 to 499 points you get $9 off for every 300 points. The rate is $12 at 500 to 999 points and $15 at 1,000 or more.

The airport also advertises PassPark Premium: reserved, allocated spaces in premium areas closest to the terminal. The airport lists no price for it.

Paying and lost tickets

Drive up and use a credit card to swipe in and out without taking a ticket, or take a ticket and pay at the exit. Cash needs an attended lane. The airport lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Its FAQ also says debit cards work at any exit lane, but online reservations do not accept debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay or Android Pay. You cannot pay with a toll tag.

Lost your ticket? Use a Cash lane, or press the Help button at an automated exit lane.

Free 60 minutes, pick-ups and the cell phone lot

The Terminal Garages (Parking 1 and 2) give you a free grace period of 60 minutes. After that, regular rates apply. The airport recommends the garages for picking up or dropping off passengers, and they connect to the terminals with moving walkways.

The cell phone lot is closed during terminal roadway construction, and the airport gives no reopening date. Park in a garage for the free hour instead. Personal vehicle pick-up is at the outside curb at Terminal 1 and at the outside curb on the baggage claim level at Terminal 2. Use the marked crosswalks.

Dropping off a traveler with only a carry-on? Kiss & Fly is a pull-off area between the garages and the Metro station, with easy access to the North and South checkpoints, for Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue and United passengers. Follow the purple signs.

EV charging, accessible spaces and big vehicles

EV charging is on the ground level of Parking 2 (73 spaces, no app) and on Level 2 (30 spaces, ChargePoint app). All are 240V J1772. There is no extra fee, but regular parking rates apply. Spaces are first come, first served and cannot be reserved. The parking FAQ lists 72 and 29, so expect one space either way.

Accessible spaces are in Parking 1 and 2 on each level close to the elevators, and in Economy near the shuttle shelters. They need a government-issued plate or placard and cannot be reserved. Parking 1 is limited to 7 feet and Parking 2 to 8 feet 2 inches. For taller vehicles, call 703-417-4300 in advance.
